Two Birds
03:02
|
|||
Two birds, sitting on a tree branch
Telling tales of freedom, sharing what they've heard
Two thirds, love and quarter
One part more sinister, than we knew
It's all a game
It's all a simple little rule book
Something you took to be true
Is it a shame
To know the secrets to the universe
And love it all the same?
Scatter your thoughts and your decisions
Let's look for more precision
With the microscope
Tell me, am I fighting for the right thing
When the silence in the night rings
To come home?
When the silence in the night rings
Will you come home?
Will you walk alone
Am I crazy? Are you there or are you gone?
It's all a game
It's all a simple little rule book
Something you took to be true
Is it a shame
To know the secrets to the universe
And love it, to respect it and to trust it all the same?

Too Soon
03:37
|
|||
Written on your face
A scar from a different time and place
You feel like home, you feel like home
There's joy inside of me
And doubt I refuse to believe
Help me breath
I believe we share a lung
And it's only just begun
Pick up your past and let it fall
Off of your sides
Decide what's right, oh god, decide what's right
Pick up your past and let it fall
Or let it fly
I’ve read you and I know you, you have lied
Ooh
Hidden from sight
Swept Out of your mind
Hidden from light
Guaranteed to die
All of my worth to dust to ash, to dust to ash
Driven by the night
Endlessly alive
Reality divides
Helplessly aligned
All that I love the best
Is in you, the best is in you
But you made a promise too soon

Heartstrings
04:55
|
|||
I am here, I am here
But my heart is somewhere not so near
My heart is hung, on a string tied to the thumb
Of a Lancaster boy
CHORUS
Hold me close, in your mind
We still have a while
Hold me close, in your mind
We still have a while
I’m alive, I’m alive
But inside the ocean’s at low tide
My ocean heart, home to storms, sunsets and lust
Is still as glass
CHORUS
I am fine, I am fine,
Trust in time to carry on and I
Will wait for July
When the clear blue skies above
Mirror my mind

Hourglass
04:17
|
|||
Standing in line, braving the cold,
The clock on the wall is ticking to the rhythm inside my chest.
Looking back doesn’t help moving forward.
The people in front and behind me have all been through their own bloody wars.
Smashing into you,
(when the countdown started and I began to trip over my creed)
was the tipping point at the edge of my mind.
I am taken but I am alone,
The sand runs through the hourglass too slow.
I am taken, my heart is on loan,
But grain by grain this hourglass sand will fall.
Waiting in line, for our share of healing time,
The man at the counter isn’t giving it for free he’s taking us for thieves.
“You got yourself in this god forsaken mess”,
But there’s a solar system in my head and my heart is the sun.
We ran through light, for years in the space of days.
Beings intertwined, a ceremonious escape from pain.
Now the days take years, and I’m scared of the night.
I’m scared to try again, I know the fall like it’s an old false friend.
I am a lost soul, I’m not here for you.
God knows if I’m even in the room.
Time spins around me, I can’t grab a hold.
I am the earth and he is still the sun,
Still the sun, still my sun.

Blind
04:40
|
|||
You crossed the line, invisible yet defined
And still I can find, some sympathy
You’re a fool, but it’s only cause’ you’re blind
From the light, by the stars, it doesn’t make it right
Cause’ the night taunts us all, we have to learn to stand tall, despite it all.
Why can’t I learn, from my wrong turns,
And yet I can see retrospectively
With crystal clear clarity
I'm a fool but it’s only cause’ I'm blind
From the light, by the stars, it doesn’t make it right
Cause’ the night taunts us all, we have to learn to stand tall, despite it all
Nobody knows me, nobody knows you, we’re only ever guessing in the dark
Nobody knows me, nobody knows you, we’re only ever guessing blind
From the light, by the stars, it doesn’t make it right
Cause’ the night taunts us all, we have to learn to stand tall, despite it all.
